Alanna Durkin is a PhD candidate studying the ecology of deep-sea chemosynthetic ecosystems. Her dissertation research approaches these unique habitats from multiple scales of ecology, spanning from the population dynamics of a single species of cold-seep tubeworm to the global biogeography of hydrothermal vent and cold seep communities. All of her work is characterized by a strong focus on data analysis and computer programming in multiple languages.
