Rebuilding and Rewiring the mast

Replacing old glue joints:

The glue used  to construct the mast over 40 years ago has weakened, so I am cutting it out and replacing it with thin spruce splines, put in with thickened, reinforced epoxy resin.  I built a jig to guide the saw in the right place.



Another part of rebuilding the mast is to put in new wires.  This is difficult because the bottom of the mast is solid.  It was necessary to cut away part of the the side of the mast to access the hollow portion.  The new white wires disappear to the left into the hollow portion of the mast.  To the right of the new wires, the mast is solid.
