What is a Student Ambassador/Ombudsperson?
My roles as the Student Advisor/Ombudsperson can be divided into two categories. First, I act as an informal advisor for students who may have questions regarding the Mathematics Department. For example, what courses to take and when, career options, degree requirements, and so on. I am also knowledgable about certain resources around campus, namely where you would go if you need help with a class, what to do if you are undecided about a major or want to find a profession that suits your interests, and so on. My second role is to act as intermediary in disputes or grievances between faculty and students. I am the second person you would want to contact over a dispute about a professor, class or grade.

When should I contact the SA/O?
If you are looking for advising, wish to file a grievance, or have a question regarding mathematics, please feel free to stop by during my office hours. If these times are not convenient for you, you can send me an email and we can arrange to meet at a better time. In the event that you wish to file a formal grievance, please make sure that you have spoken to your professor in regards to the matter prior to coming to see me. Many times, these things are simply miscommunications and do not require the actual greivance procedure, which is a long, formal process. If you do decided to go ahead, please read the CST Grievance Policy and send me an email or stop by.
