SEPTA’s alternative line (Regional) for students living outside of the Philadelphia area is easy and cheap. Students can acquire SEPTA passes and tokens in the Student Center’s book store.
The Septa subway trains are located on Broad Street in front of the campus for easy access. There are only two subways: Northbound Broad and Southbound Broad. Don’t take the “Express” because it doesn’t stop at Temple.
There is a Temple shuttle bus that will take you (free) to other Temple campuses if you are considering taking a class on a campus other than the one you reside at. The shuttle bus is also a great way to get to Center City. The bus stop is outside of the side of Paley Library, across from the Tech Center.
SEPTA buses are also very comfortable and have a good frequency.
Cabs are available throughout the city. Traveling in taxis/cabs is also very easy. It will not cost you as much as you think, especially if you take it with friends, the cost will end up being surprisingly cheap. Especially, at night, traveling by cab is the safest way to reach the campus without any problem.
If you are planning to travel by your own car, here a few quick tips for you.
1) Several temple parking lots are available for students on either side of the campus.
2) Some of the best parking lots are the Liacouras Garage, the Parking Lot opposite Tech Center and The Parking Lot of University Services Building.
3) If you don’t want to park in a lot, there is usually space available east of campus, around 8th or 9th street.
4) Always take note of where you are parking and any signs posted.
5) Try to avoid getting a ticket by signing up for a student parking pass in the Student Center.
6) In Freshman year, there is actually no need to bring a car.
7) Don’t invest in a parking permit unless you have night classes or live on campus.
