Sebaceous gland, -low & med & high mag.
Sebaceous glands lie in the dermis. Short, stratified excretory ducts open into hair follicles. Secretory endpieces are multiple and sac-like. At the periphery is a single layer of thin (dividing) cells with round nuclei. Toward the center of the gland the cells enlarge and fill with lipid droplets; nuclei shrink and the cells disintegrate forming sebum, a holocrine secretory product.
