Duodenum. - Myenteric (Auerbach’s )Plexus, Low & High mags.
Found between the inner circular and outer longitudinal bands of smooth muscle in the GI tract are autonomic ganglia. Cell bodies and a meshwork of non-myelinated and finely myelinated axons and dendrites comprise the myenteric (Auerbach’s) plexus. The perikarya are large, and generally slightly basophilic. The axons and dendrites are pale staining and are hard to characterize. The smaller nuclei belong to supportive cells (Schwann cells and satellite cells).
