Anal Canal - med. & high mag.
This section, stained with a trichrome stain, distinguishes smooth muscle from connective tissue. Note the smooth muscle cells surrounding the lumen of the blood vessel. Smooth muscle interweaves with the connective tissue deep to the underlying the simple columnar epithelium lining the anal canal.
