Overview of the Female ReproductiveSystem
The female reproductive system is composed of the ovaries, uterine tubes, uterus, cervix, vagina and mammary glands. The ovaries and uterus undergo dramatic changes during the follicular and luteal phases of the menstrual cycle. The mammary glands only undergo major changes during pregnancy and lactation. This laboratory will examine the histological features of these organs during various endocrinological states. The placenta will also be studied.
