Serous glands are composed of pyramidal cells surrounding a small lumen. Round nuclei are basally located and rough endoplasmic reticulum adds to the basophilia; refractile secretory granules are located apically. Small ducts lined by simple cuboidal cells (1) drain to larger ducts lined by simple columnar cells (2).
