Lip, Stratified squamous epithelium (wet), low & high mag.
The surface of the lip facing the oral cavity is lined by thick, non-keratinized epithelium in which the flattened cells at the surface retain their nuclei. As with all epithelia, blood vessels are in the connective tissue below the epithelium, not within it.
