Flat nuclei of the simple squamous epithelium, parietal layer of Bowman’s capsule, surround glomerular capillaries. Adjacent is a (pink) proximal convoluted tubule of the nephron formed by simple cuboidal epithelium. The cuboidal cells are about as wide as they are tall and have round nuclei. The cells’ apices have brush borders of microvilli.
