Overview of the Endocrine System
The endocrine system is composed of the pituitary, thyroid, parathyroids, adrenal glands, testes, ovaries, and islets of Langerhans. You will study the islets and gonads in other laboratories. For this laboratory relate the histological organization of each endocrine gland to the hormones secreted by each cell type in each gland, the factors that control the hormone secretion, and the action of each hormone in the body.
