Epithelial-lined villi and intestinal glands are on the left. Hypercellular loose irregular connective tissue of the lamina propria with many lymphocytes and plasma cells is similar to that seen in the colon.
The pink tissue on the bottom left constitutes two layers of smooth muscle separated by a less cellular loose connective tissue called submucosa.
