Developing Trabecular & Compact Bone - Pubic Symphysis
Large, dark staining osteoblasts, derived from osteoprogenitor cells, appear as part of the endosteum are forming bone on existing trabeculae while osteons are present in the Haversian systems of compact bone. Between the outer fibrous layer of the periosteum and the developing compact bone, in the cellular layer of the periostem, are a number of large dark staining osteoclasts. Osteocytes are seen in lacunae.
