notebooks
You will be required to keep a notebook of unlined paper, to be handed in periodically throughout the semester (you can mark the pages you want me to look at). The left hand pages of your notebook will be for sketching, storyboards, visual notes, etc., and the right hand pages will be for writing. You will take notes on each reading assignment, focusing on the ideas and images that particularly interest you.

In addition, you will use the notebook to record impressions, ideas and images in everyday life that might be used in your work for class.

supplies needed for the course

Issues of footage will be decided on an individual basis. This class does not provide access to production equipment. Therefore you are encouraged to use previously-produced footage, unless you have other access to equipment.

Understanding Comics, by Scott McDonald, Kitchen Sink Press, 1994, $16.07 @ amazon.com or.

attendance policy
Students are required to attend all classes. Any absences MUST be arranged in advance, in an e-mail to the teach (not the TA). More than 2 absences will result in lowering your grade. 3 absences will result in failure in the class.

policy on assignments
All assignments are due on time. If you are having difficulties, it is your responsibility to contact the teacher and/or the TA IMMEDIATELY, in time to address your problems BEFORE the class in which the assignment is due. Work that is one week late will not be viewed by the class and will receive one full letter grade lower than otherwise. Work that is more that one week late will not be accepted.

technical issues
If you are encountering difficulties with hardware, software, or any technical concepts that are hindering your work in this class, assistance is readily available from the instructor or the TA. However, it is your responsibility to contact the instructor or the TA to get help as soon as possible, to prevent you from falling behind in your work. You will be held fully responsible for all late or unfinished work if you have fallen behind without seeking help or letting the instructor or the TV know of your difficulty.

issues of dis/ability
If you have a disability that affects your ability to learn in this class in any way, please contact the professor to discuss ways that this can be addressed.
