Capturing a sound track from a CD (Macintosh only)

The following instructions are for capturing very short segments of sound recorded on CD, i.e., less than one-second long. To avoid copyright violation, do not take sound samples longer than one second from commercially-produced CDs for your projects in this class.

Locate the Simpletext application on your computer using Sherlock. Place your CD in the disk drive. Open Simpletext. Go to FILE>OPEN and navigate to your CD and double click on the desired track. In the dialog that comes up, navigate to the appropriate destination to which you will save the file. Click the "Convert" button.

Your file can then be imported into SoundEdit Pro so that you can select a short sample from it.
