What does it mean to be together at a distance?

In 1999, a group of artists and technologists at NYU gathered to talk about Internet2, a new Internet infrastructure that could carry a network of high-quality video streams. As a video artist, I was intrigued with the medium’s potential to give an uncanny sense of live presence shared between distant locations.
