Biography

Dr. Yvette Reisinger is Associate Professor of Tourism in the National Laboratory for Tourism & eCommerce in the School of Tourism & Hospitality Management, Temple University. She received her graduate education in both the Department of International Tourism at Warsaw University of Planning and Statistics, Poland (M.Soc.Sc.) and the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Victoria University, Melbourne, Australia (M.Bus. and Ph.D.). Prior to joining Temple University she was a Director of the Tourism Program at Florida International University, Director of the Tourism Program and the Executive Certificate in Hospitality Management at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. Dr. Reisinger has been actively involved in research projects and have published in a variety of tourism and marketing journals and presented many conference papers based on her original research work.

Dr. Reisinger’s research activities mainly focus on cultural influences on tourist behavior and communication. She has conducted extensive cross-cultural studies of China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Thailand, and Australia. Her work on the Japanese tourist market earned her an invitation as the keynote speaker for the inaugural First National Tourism Research Conference of the Japan Foundation for International Tourism (JAFIT) in Tokyo, Japan (2001). She has received Best Article of the Year Award from the Journal of Travel and Tourism Marketing (2006), Article Excellence Award (2 papers) from the Journal of Travel Research (2003), and Highly Commended Award from the European Journal of Marketing (1999) for her articles on cultural differences among Asian tourist markets. She is the recipient of numerous research grants.

Dr. Reisinger is a Founding Member of the International Society of Culture, Tourism and Hospitality Research (HEC, Montreal). She holds a board seat on the book series Advances in Culture, Tourism and Hospitality Research, and is an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Tourism, Culture and Hospitality Research, Regional Editor (Australia and Asia) of the Tourism-An International Interdisciplinary Journal, and the Editorial Board member of the Journal of Travel Research, Journal of Vacation Marketing and Tourism Review International.
 
Dr. Reisinger’s peer-reviewed publications can be found in the top tourism journals such as Annals of Tourism Research, Journal of Travel Research, Tourism Management, Journal of Travel & Tourism Marketing, Tourism Analysis, and more. Her research book Cross-Cultural Behavior in Tourism: Concepts and Analysis for graduate students was translated into the Mandarin language. Her new textbook International Tourism: Cultures and Behavior for undergraduate students was published this year (2009).

Dr. Reisinger has been a member of major professional associations, including TTRA (Travel and Tourism Research Association), AIEST (International Association of Scientific Experts in Tourism), ISCTHR International Society of Culture, Tourism and Hospitality Research, TIA (Travel (Industry Association), and IIPT (International Institute for Peace through Tourism (WTO).
