His research work has appeared in such journals as the Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Marketing, Strategic Management Journal, and Academy of Management Journal. He is the recipient of the 1998 S. Tamer Cavusgil Best Paper Award and the 2005 Hans B. Thorelli 5-Year Best Paper Award by the American Marketing Association. His books include Global Sourcing Strategy: R&D, Manufacturing, Marketing Interfaces (1992), Japanese Distribution System (with Michael R. Czinkota, 1993), Anticompetitive Practices in Japan (with Kent W. Wheiler, 1996), MERCOSUR and Beyond (1997), Trends in International Business: Critical Perspectives (with Michael R. Czinkota, 1998), Market Revolution in Latin America: Beyond Mexico (with Ricardo Leal, 2001), Emerging Issues in International Business Research (with Preet Aulakh, 2002), Marketing Management, 3rd ed. (with Michael R. Czinkota 2005), Global Supply Chain Management (with Michael Mol, 2006), The SAGE Handbook of International Marketing (with Kristiaan Helsen, 2009), and Global Marketing Management, 5th ed. (with Kristiaan Helsen, 2010). He serves as the Editor of the Journal of International Management, and also serves / has served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Marketing, the Journal of International Business Studies, the Journal of International Marketing, the Journal of World Business, the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, the Journal of Business Research, and the Thunderbird International Business Review, among others. He also serves as an Advisor to the Institute of Industrial Policy Studies (IPS) National Competitiveness Report. In the third issue of Journal of Teaching in International Business in 1997, Dr. Kotabe was ranked the most prolific international marketing researcher in the world in the last ten years. In 1998, he was elected a Fellow of the Academy of International Business for his significant contribution to international business research and education. He is the recipient of the 2002 Musser Award for Excellence in Research at Temple University. |
