Marjatta Lyyra

Prof. Marjatta Lyyra received her B.Sc and M.Sc from the University
of Helsinki, Finland (1972, 1974), and Ph.D. from the University of Stockholm,
Sweden, in 1979. She has taught physics and led her research
group at Temple University in Philadelphia PA since 1991. She is a Fellow
of the American Physical Society. Prof. Lyyra and her husband
Benedict Stavis, professor
emeritus at Temple University, have two
children.
