Namorah "SpiritKeeper
"Byrd is
a poet, writer, storyteller, singer, musician, and lecturer. She is a
member of the United American Indians of the Delaware Valley and of the
Pennsylvania Coalition of Native Americans and the Native American Women's
Singing Circle. An accomplished storyteller, Namorah bringsAfrican American
and Native American poetry, stories and tales to audiences, passing on
the wisdom and knowledge of the AfricanAmerican experience and the experience
of the First People of Turtle Island.
Namorah has
both her Bachelors and Masters degrees in English Literature from Temple
University in Philadelphia. She is the recipient of a Future Faculty Fellowship
from Temple to complete her Ph.D. in English,was the Commencement Speaker
for the 1996 graduating class of the College of Liberal Arts, and is currently
employed
as a Temple University administrator. Namorah also teaches English composition
for Temple's First Year Writing Program. In spring 2001, Namorah taught
Temple's first graduate course in Native American Studies for the Master's
in Liberal Arts Program.
