RESEARCH

My research interests concern the computational, cognitive and visual representation and analysis of geographic information.  Below are links to some current research topics.

Human-Environment Interaction in the City

This research concerns the relationship between people and the urban environment, not only in the sense of the surrounding natural ecology but also in the sense of how human behavior is shaped by neighborhood socioeconomic and built environments.

Multidimensional Map Algebra (MMA)

This research aims to extend conventional map algebra for 2D+time, 3D, and 4D data handling in an open source and interoperable software environment.

Dasymetric Mapping and Areal Interpolation

This research develops methods to disaggregate aggregated spatial data to yield higher resolution data products.

Environmental Justice

This research investigates the relationship between race and environmental risk and enforcement using GIS, remote sensing, and spatial statistics.

Spatio-Temporal and Semantic Data Models

This research develops data models for spatio-temporal data to support geographic knowledge discovery.
