First

O'Keefe, an artist from the 3rd
Street Gallery on 2nd, says, " First Friday is such a major
attraction because all of the galleries are open at the same time. It is
an ideal location, between Washington and New York, that brings families,
students, and professionals together in the social scene."
First Friday offers more than just art. Typically, most galleries will provide free wine and cheese sampling and, in only a few circumstances, a gallery or two will provide beer as well. During the warmer months it is not unusual for street musicians to gather in Old City for this special event. The visual and audio performances make for a fulfilling artistic experience. First Friday is full of advantages including the fact that all galleries offer admittance free of charge. Other than First Friday, most galleries run on a four-day work week schedule and very few post admission fees. Tucked away amongst these galleries one can find antique stores and dining opportunities ranging from fine cuisine to casual fare. Old City's artistic area is full of fun experiences and provides an out of the ordinary social spotlight. |
