Dr. Blair is an Assistant Professor in the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management., specializing in Sports and Recreation Management. She has been teaching at Temple University since 1989 in the Recreation & Leisure Studies Department, as well as, the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management. She teaches courses in the areas of: diversity, program and special event planning, disability awareness, developmental disabilities and sport and recreation management at the undergraduate level.
She has over 20 years experience designing and implementing inclusive sport, tourism and leisure programs and events. She has served on numerous local, regional and national committees including serving on the Board of Directors of the National Equality Forum, the Mid-East Symposium on Therapeutic Recreation, New Jersey/Eastern PA Therapeutic Recreation Association, National Council on Therapeutic Recreation Certification: Job Analysis Committee, Philadelphia Mayor’s Commission on People with Disabilities, as well as, consulted with various agencies regarding the development of inclusive program and event planning.
During her career she has worked on several research grant projects including the Pennsylvania Homecoming: Strategic Development and Measurement of Family Reunions Market Project funded by the PA Commonwealth and has managed two U.S. DOE, RSA federally funded grants designed to foster development of inclusive sport and recreation programs for inner-city youth and adults with disabilities. In addition, her doctoral dissertation, Multicultural Competency and Multicultural Conflicts Encountered by Entry Level Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist provided benchmark data for the Therapeutic Recreation field.
