Course Description
This course introduces the discipline of international tourism as it relates to the global tourism industry. Students are exposed to key terms and concepts involving international tourism. The course provides general knowledge on travel patterns and trends, transport services, accommodation and hospitality services, travel distribution systems, tourism market trends and travel psychology, tourism marketing, tourism research and forecasting, contributions of tourism to economic development, the role of governments, international and regional organizations in tourism, etc. Special emphases will be placed on understanding tourism marketing, tourism impacts, and tourism policy and planning. The course is designed for undergraduate students who want to pursue for careers in public/private sectors of the international tourism industry.
Course Objectives
After the completion of this course, you should be able to:
- Understand basic knowledge, general concepts, and key terms in the international tourism discipline.
- Relate learned concepts/theories to practices in the global tourism.
