THM 333 – Case Studies in e-Commerce 
(Tourism/Hospitality)

Course Description

This course is the cumulating experience of a series of prior courses in the e-Business minor sequence offered by the School of Tourism & Hospitality Management. Overall e-Commerce concepts and practices will be reviewed. Case studies and special e-Commerce topics involving tourism or hospitality companies will be discussed to facilitate the learning. Students must have obtained the instructor’s consent or completed all 3 THM prerequisites or their equivalents: THM 253 (Computer Applications), THM 331 (e-Commerce Business Models and Strategy), and THM 332 (Management Information Systems in the Industry).

Course Objectives

In particular, the course has the following objectives:

  • To identify and review the important managerial decisions, economic factors, and other influential variables that have contributed to the success or failure of tourism/hospitality e-commerce cases.
  • To provide students with the most current status and development of e-commerce in the tourism and hospitality industries,
  • To gain an appreciation for the e-commerce practices in tourism/hospitality businesses with global and interdisciplinary perspectives,
  • To explore unique topics and learn experiences concerning e-commerce.
