Mission Statement
The National Laboratory for Tourism & eCommerce (NLTeC) at Temple University is multi-disciplinary, multi-departmental and multi-university. NLTeC is housed in School of Tourism and Hospitality Management affiliated with Fox School of Business and Management at Temple University. The primary mission of the National Laboratory for Tourism & eCommerce is to conduct and facilitate high quality inter and multi-disciplinary research and development in those areas of tourism impacted by technology. To this end, NLTeC provides a unique and powerful setting for scholars and practitioners to consider the nature and role of information technology in tourism industry. Research by Laboratory faculty, staff and fellows include the following areas: advertising, business, communications, computer science, education, environmental studies, geography, marketing, management information system, psychology, and urban and regional planning.
NLTeC faculty, staff and associates are involved in a variety of projects related to tourism and eCommerce. They draw on theories from diverse areas such as Psychology, Management, Computer Science, Library and Information Science, Communications, Geography, Marketing, and Advertising. NLTeC publications comprise of various books, monographs (in print and electronic format), journal articles, contributions to conference proceedings, technical reports, etc. and reflect the diversity and scope of research efforts within NLTeC and of co-operative projects between NLTeC and its partners.
NLTeC is located in School of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Temple University. The Lab provides facilities, equipment and training for research and applications in tourism. The facilities are located in recently remodeled space, offering full time faculty and staff extensive research space. Computing access is particularly strong and all work spaces have high speed Internet access.
