My major area of interest, broadly defined, is urban politics.  My specific interests include:  community development;  housing;  neighborhood politics;  community organizations; urban public policy. Most recently, I have begun research in the areas of civic education, youth development, and youth civic engagement.  My approach to all of these topics is interdisicplinary, relying heavily on works in sociology, anthropology, geography, planning, psychology, economics, and history.  As Director of UCCP, I also work very closely with community-based and other nonprofit organizations in the Philadelphia area on issues of community development and civic engagement.  Since this is my passion, I welcome calls and emails from others who are engaged or interested in similar activities
