Robin

Design #739  10'10" x 4'8" x 6 1/2" sloop rigged dinghy, 1963

The Robin is about the smallest dinghy that can carry a sloop rig.  In fact, she has two mast positions, so she can be sailed as either a sloop (sail area: 80 sq. ft.) or catboat.  She carries a spinnaker.  Originally the boats were built of mahogany plywood by the Evanson Boat Company of Riverside N.J., but were later made of fiberglass.

With a pop-up rudder, she can go in very shoal water. She has a foredeck, splash boards, and side decks, to keep out water and to allow comfortable hiking.

Congratualations and thanks to Scott Dempsey for his achievements and photos.
American Sail, Inc, builds a boat of similar size (Pennant) and might be able to supply parts.
