Little Sister

design #437,  27'2" x 22'1" x 8'3 x 4'2"
stock aux sloop, 1938

During the depression, Rhodes developed some small, stock boats with lower prices.  One of the good examples of this strategy was Little Sister, a jaunty boat with a full transom and outboard rudder.  She is a comfortable cruising boat for two, with standing headroom under the dog house and a simple fractional rig, without running backstays.  Her promoter, Harry MacDonald, said that she sailed very well.

The boats were primarily built by Gray Boats in Thomaston Maine, but the one in the photograph above was most probably built in Tacoma WA.  She currently sails out of Seattle.
