Kanaloa, now named Passage

design #712, 70'5" x 63'6" x 19' x 5'1" centerboard motorsailer, 1960

A sistership Sharelle was also built

Accomodations include a huge, full width, aft stateroom for the owner, with its own toilet/shower  room (the normal word "head" doesn't quite capture the scale of this room).  There is also a guest stateroom aft.  A large salon is in the deck house, above the engine room.  Forward is a galley to port.  To starboard is a head and a second guest stateroom.

Further forward is the crew's quarters, including a cabin for the captain, two pipe berths for crew, table for crew's meals, and their head.  The crew's quarters has its own hatch and companionway to the deck, and connects to the rest of the interior through a door to the galley.

From an article in The Rudder, February 1961 (?):
This lovely steel ketch rigged motor sailer, Sharelle, is the latest in Rhodes' series, which includes the 44 foot Virginia Reel, the 57 foot Dragger Lady, and the 65 foot Virginia Reel.  Unlike some of the earlier boats, Sharelle's rig is big enough to make her handle smartly under most conditions.

Two General Motors diesels rated at 151 hp each, driving through 3:1 gears turn 30 by 26 inch wheels.  This equipment provides a speedof 10.5 knots.  Four tanks integral with the welded steel hull have a capacity of 1620 gallons, enough for a cruising range of 1700 miles.

In common with most boasts of this size and character, she is equipped with every luxury and convenience.
