Dutchess III

38' x 33' x 12' x 4'6"
Design number 638, 1955

Dutchess III is a motor sailer with a hull form that is similar to Virginia Reel.  She is a little smaller, and designed for wood construction.  She has a substantial sail plan and a well defined, shallow keel about 18".  She is designed for a single engine, with an aperture in the deadwood and rudder.

Her interior layout is for comfortable cruising.  The engine is amidships, with a raised deck house above it.  The deck house has a dinette (convertable to a double bed)  to port and a linear galley to starboard, similar to the main cabin in Olshing (#618), which  Rhodes designed in 1953.

Dutchess III has an aft cabin with two large berths, ample lockers,  and an enclosed head.  Forward of the deck house is a forward cabin, with two bunks and a second enclosed head.
