Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia
The Japan America Society has a variety of programs and activities that may be of interest to Temple students.  One special activity is to plant flowering cherry trees in parks.  Check with their website and participate in their many activities.

A Japanese House and Garden in Fairmount Park

The Japanese House and Garden in Fairmount Park, here in Philadelphia, is one of the meeting places in Philadelphia for both Japanese and Americans to share their interest in Japanese culture.  The Japanese House and Garden has many lectures, workshops, and tea ceremonies scheduled throughout the year.  They also have internships for students to help in these activities.

I am sure that Temple students with interests in Japan will find this a pleasant and useful institution.  In addition to becoming more familiar with Japanese culture, students will have a chance to meet other people in Philadelphia with interests in Japan.  For students thinking about jobs after graduation in the Philadelphia area, participating in activities at the Japanese House and Garden and possibly interning there might provide a useful entry into the networks of people and institutions interested in Japan.  For finding a job, "networking" is a critical stage.

The Japanese House and Garden can be reached by public transportation, SEPTA bus 38 from Center City to the intersection of Belmont Ave. and Montgomery Drive.
