Here are students reports on teaching in China and a semester in Thailand: Getting to Asia is an ESSENTIAL part of studying Asia. Summer programs and junior years abroad are excellent ways to start this, and an internship or job teaching English is very sensible after graduation. Temple's Asia Study program gives full credit for study in academic programs in Asia. We especially encourage study at Temple University Japan (Tokyo). Information on other programs is available from the International Programs office, 5th floor of Conwell Hall. There are also some excellent summer language training programs at U.S. universities that provide superb training, and will be given full credit. Credit toward the Asian Studies major or minor must be approved by the Asian Studies advisor, preferably in advance. In addition, you must have your plans reviewed and approved by the Acdemic Advising Office. As your plans for study abroad or at another university's summer program crystalize, get the form called "Request to Take Courses at Another University" from the Office of Academic Advising, have it filled out, and taken back to the Advising. This will ensure there are no bureaucratic problems in getting full credit for your work abroad. Asian Studies
