Student Organizations
President's Council
There are many issues that affect student organizations on all Temple campuses. The leaders of these organizations often have great solutions to many problems that affect student organizations. To encourage the sharing of information and problem solving amongst student organizations, we propose the formation of a Presidents’ Council. The concept, which was previously discussed by Oscar Chow and the current administration, is to give student leaders an opportunity to discuss relevant issues while developing closer bonds with each other.
Allocations
Student Organizations are a major reason that student life on campus is so great. In the last year, Temple Student Government was given a large increase in funding due the increase in the General Activities Fee (GAF). The increase available to Temple Student Government through the GAF fee has dramatically increased the funding available to all student organizations. This increase also presents an opportunity to provide student organizations a higher maximum amount of funding. Owl Evolution has been in conversation with members in the current TSG administration and University administration to decide how to best increase funding for student organizations. We also plan to support the allocations chairperson in an important effort to digitalize the allocation process so that completing and reviewing the applications is a much easier one.
Student Organization Discounts
Owl Evolution has developed plans to organize a system with local businesses to exclusively provide student organizations discounts on goods and services. These discounts will assist organizations in cutting costs wherever possible so that more of their money can be spent on operation and programming. We will also continue the work of TSG President Oscar Chow by implementing Campus Mobile. Campus Mobile is a system that will provide access to discounts from local businesses to all students.
Advertising
Almost every student group and University department uses the Student Center atrium to post advertisements and house marketing campaigns. This phenomena has created a marketing head-ache for anyone wishing to promote their events. Owl Evolution plans to address this problem by providing more channels of marketing distribution. It is our goal to relieve some of the congestion in prime marketing areas, and allow unused areas to develop into marketing focal points.
Sodexho
We understand that Sodexho food services have a bad reputation among many Temple students. We have heard cries of dissatisfaction with Sodexho from Main Campus to Ambler. However, Owl Evolution has developed lines of communication with the necessary parties to effectively address student concerns with Sodexho. Among issues we will be addressing is customer service, the lack of healthier food options at 4th meal, hours of operation on the weekend, and pricing options for student organizations. We strongly believe that if Owl Evolution is elected, we will succeed in improving Sodexho’s service to our student body.
