Wireless Service at ISB

To receive free wireless internet service for the 5th International Symposium on DEA

I. Find out the MAC address of your wireless network card

Laptops

Windows 2000 and XP

Click on the Start button, select Run, type cmd and then click on OK. A small window will open with a command prompt. Type ipconfig /all and press Enter. Note that there is a space between ipconfig and /all.

If your computer has a wireless network card, information will appear under Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection

If your computer has a wireless network card, write down the six pairs of letters and/or numbers shown next to the card's Physical Address. This combination of letters and numbers is the wireless network card's MAC (Media Access Control) address.

Mac OS 8.X and OS 9.X

1. Go to the Apple icon and select AirPort.

2. If necessary, click on the word Settings so that the AirPort settings appear.

3. If the Turn AirPort On button appears, click on it to turn on your AirPort connection.

4. Write down the six pairs of letters and/or numbers shown next to AirPort ID. This is the wireless network card's MAC (Media Access Control) address.

Mac OS X

1. Click once on the desktop.

2. On the menu bar at the top of the screen, click on Go and select Applications.

3. Double-click on the Utilities icon.

4. Double-click on the Network Utility icon. If you have a conventional Ethernet card in addition to a wireless network card, make sure the wireless network card is selected in the Please select a network interface for information box. To determine which card is selected, look for a card description under Interface Information. Then write down the six pairs of letters and/or numbers shown next to Hardware Address. This is the wireless network card's MAC (Media Access Control) address.

PDAs

Pocket PC

Note: These steps pertain to the iPAQ Pocket PC. If you have another type of Pocket PC models, the procedure may be slightly different.

1. Tap on Start and select Settings.
2. Tap on the System tab on the bottom of the screen.
3. Tap on the iPAQ WLAN icon.
4. Tap on the Status button.
5. The MAC address is listed near the bottom of the screen.

Palm

Note: These steps pertain to the Palm Tungsten C. If you have another model Palm, the procedure may be slightly different.

Look for a MAC address on the back of the unit under the serial number. The MAC address consists of six pairs of letters and or numbers. If you don't see a MAC address listed, try finding a MAC address is follows:

1. In the Applications launcher, tap on Prefs.
2. In the Communications section of the Preferences screen, tap on Wi-Fi.
3. Tap on Info.
4. The MAC address is listed near the bottom of the screen.
