Creating a Nested Movie Clip

  1. Insert a keyframe and select the frames on the Timeline for the duration of your intended animation.   Drag an object from the Library onto the Stage or create an object using the drawing tools.
  1. Double-click on the object to select it and go to MODIFY > CONVERT TO SYMBOL.   For "Behavior", select "movie clip", and name the symbol instance.
  1. Double-click on the movie clip object to edit it in its own Timeline.   By doing this, you are "nesting" it (as a child) within the original Timeline (the parent).
  1. Animate the movie clip in its own Timeline, by inserting key frames and creating motion or other kinds of changes.
  1. Still in the nested movie clip's own timeline, test the animation using the CONTROL > Play command.
  1. Click on the Scene 1 icon in the upper left, above the Timeline, to return to the Main Timeline.   Test your movie, using CONTROL > Test Movie.
